How might we choose to live?

Every day we have a choice: how might we live this day?

Yet often, we forget to ask ourselves because we are either in a hurry or a rut.

Or we don’t realise that the choice is ours to make, and we are living someone else’s life, failing to honour the potential that is uniquely ours.

However, as a daily practice, this choice shapes us. It frames who we are becoming, either through intention or neglect.

This excerpt from John O’Donohue’s blessing, Matins, captures my intention:

May I live this day

Compassionate of heart,
Clear in word,
Gracious in awareness,
Courageous in thought,
Generous in love.

I wonder, how might you choose to live?
