Looking for light

looking-for-light

Wandering up the valley in early evening, I was looking for light.

It wasn’t that dark, but I was curious to see what changed as the sun’s angle dropped.

Tones shifted, contrasts became clearer and normally obscure vegetation had the limelight for brief moments.

And as I looked around, I realised that the whole colour-scape had shifted.

Things I don’t notice in full daylight emerged with a subtle beauty that reminded me that we need to be aware of the light we are seeing by.

For example, in the flat and chaotic light of busyness where we can see nothing clearly with any depth.

Or the grey tones of anxiety sucking our energy and diminishing our capacity to see colour.

And, I wonder, what about the light of love?
