What is wise time?
Don’t expect boundaries or structure. These are edges without tactile certainty.
But you know its presence. You can feel it, inside.
It’s elastic when needed, rock-like when not. Strong fluidity is its character, embracing eventualities with ease.
Graciously stepping back and giving space for cooling off, rather than pressing the point home. And damaging honour and trust in the process.
Or holding silence, for others to emerge, whilst knowing when to propel forward, marshalling traction.
When to say yes – and open new space.
When to say no – and draw the line.
And when to wait.
Especially, when to wait – this most courageous act of wise time.
HT to colleagues on the board of Bible Society for lessons in wise time over the last two days…
