This is the last phrase of John O’Donohue’s provocative blessing, which I quoted in my weekend reflection. But it’s adjusted to ground us in the present.
“Why am I being given this day?“
Who is this day for, beyond myself?
Where can I make a difference that would not happen without me?
What is inviting me to go deeper, crossing boundaries that I might have erected?
And this question is especially true for today.
Not just because it’s a Monday and probably more than any other day of the week we are on autopilot.
But also because today only happens once. When it’s gone, it’s gone.
So why are you being given this day?
