I had a delightful, multi-layered conversation with Chris Lever of Teleios Consulting yesterday.
We started by exploring the roots of his work on Navigating Change with leaders.
“What do you see?”
Was the question asked by his skipper as he learned his seafaring craft after leaving school.
“What do you see?”
Pursued as a daily question, taught him to navigate beyond maps and charts.
“What do you see?”
Trained him to read the water with long sight.
“What do you see?”
Is one of the most important questions we can ask today. Because the answer is more than surface deep and we need to cultivate our sightlines – breadth and depth and length – if we are going to make sense of where we are.
And not drown.
