Isn’t this a beautiful and evocative phrase: the care of words?
I heard it listening to Krista Tippett talking with the Northern Irish poet, Michael Longley, in a re-run of the 2016 On Being podcast: The Vitality of Ordinary Things.
The care of words.
It invites us to consider how we hold our words and our language in an era when words are thrown away and cheap.
There have never been so many words swirling around us in our everyday lives. Yet we have forgotten their care.
And in doing so, we miss paying attention to the space between us and what resides in our soul.
It matters.
