When you’ve been tussling with something for a long time, you wonder if you’ll ever reach the end.
And then something happens.
A word or comment. An insight. Simply seeing it from another angle.
And there it is. The answer is in plain sight.
Yet it wasn’t in plain sight. It wasn’t that we’ve been blind, or stupid, or stubborn.
It’s just that we weren’t quite in the right position to see it.
We may need to grow a few inches to see over the wall.
Or perhaps we’d put something in the way that obscured our view.
Even using the wrong glasses. Correcting for long sight when we couldn’t see far enough.
And then we see it.
It’s obvious. And the joy of joys, it fits without all the workarounds.
Isn’t it glorious?
Yes, it still requires us to step forward and own it. To hold it and use it and let it grow us further.
Because this isn’t the end.
It’s the beginning.
THE GIFT OF SEEING IT SLANT
Seeing from the side,
the edge where
others care not
What do you see?
And what do you hear
on the wind,
that speaks alone
Or what do you notice
that is calling
for your soft, inner
This is for you.
Open your hands
to receive, and
your heart to respond.
We are waiting.+ Sue Heatherington, November 2022
~ You only notice the Chinese Witch Hazel when the light catches it against an evergreen background, like the Ivy. Isn’t it beautiful?
I’m no longer surprised that my musings have been around sight and seeing this week. I hope they have helped you navigate forward too.
