Please don’t close your heart

We don’t always know when it’s time to move or to change.

Yet often, something occurs that throws the folly of the comfort blanket we are holding into sharp relief.

We didn’t realise – until we did – that we were holding back.

And then we can’t unknow.

It watched you play with the seduction of safety
And the grey promises that sameness whispered,
Heard the waves of turmoil rise and relent,
Wondered would you always live like this.

Or once we’ve glimpsed the glorious delights of colour, we can’t go back to monochrome.

Because it’s hard to unsee something we’ve seen.

I wonder, what is catching your attention that you can’t ignore?

~ This is the third verse of John O’Donohue’s blessing For a New Beginning
