Another late Sunday afternoon stroll preparing for David Whyte’s second session of online poetry, philosophy and reflection: ‘Half a shade braver’.
Then these beautiful nasturtium flowers grabbed my attention, like bright beacons in a slowly decaying landscape. The epitome of autumnal defiance.
Late in the day
It’s never too late in the day,
to reach beyond the familiar
and explore places unknown,
where the sun leaves its trail of light.
It’s never too late in the day
for colours and life in mellowed tones;
autumnal gifts of sights and sounds
and smells unknown elsewhere.
It’s never too late in the day.
Do not fear the loss of time,
there are moments enough to say ‘yes’
to what is beautiful and ripe for now.
It’s never too late.
