I don’t mean how long can you hold a thought or how many minutes until you get distracted.
What about how widely you give attention? What do you notice, see and hear on the periphery of your vision?
Because I wonder if our experience of the last year has narrowed our attention span and shortened our vision, and that wouldn’t be surprising.
However, there are times when we need to grow our attention muscles. And I suspect that now is one of them. Otherwise, we will be in danger of judging things too narrowly and missing being fully present.
Looking back over this week:
- What has gone well – what are you grateful for?
- What has gone wrong or you’ve found tough – what are you learning?
- What has caught your interest – what are you curious about?
What do you notice?
