Being rooted

This morning the overcast skies shifted the light in the valley.

Instead of noticing the bright emergent growth, my eyes were drawn to the fir cones in varying states of unfurling.

They weren’t going anywhere. They were just doing their thing.

In fact, to do their thing well they need to be covered by other vegetation so the seeds get a good chance of germinating and taking root. On their way to becoming a tree.

Staying put. And creating the best environment to grow.
