And down came the rain

and-down-came-the-rain

Simple drizzle, little drops leisurely finding their way to earth.

Followed by sheets. Driving curtains of rain penetrating every crack, horizontal and vertical.

Subsiding, then changing its mind and inviting the wind along for the ride.

Calm, and the promise of light shafting through the clouds.

Life feels like this sometimes. Just when we think we are ready, down comes the rain.

Yet this is life, and moment by moment, we get to enjoy its presence.

Enduring hope

HOW UNEXPECTED

How easily are the legs of life
swept from beneath us;

how nonchalant the gods
who step upon our backs;

how frail seems the hope
we are told might lift us;

how unexpected, then,
when it does.

Enjoy the puddles.

PS And I am rather grateful for new wellies (gumboots)
